Lou Storm
As a contemporary dancer originally from Germany, she suffered numerous injuries, with dislocated vertebrae like keys moving on a piano. Thus, her curiosity for the anatomy of the body and her dedication to understanding body movement arose almost “organically.”
At her school “Tempesdanza” in Mexico, she began integrating her anatomy studies into daily dance and yoga classes in 2006. From 2008 to 2011, she led the “Performance Year” training program for professional dancers, integrating somatic awareness into the training of dancers and performers.
Through Body-Mind-Centering, she explored movement from the bones, organs, fluids, and the cell itself with her students and the dancers of her company “Tempesdanza.” As a choreographer, she has presented her dance theater works, choreographies, improvisations, performances, and site-specific installations in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, India, Mexico, and Switzerland.
During her master’s degree in “Transdisciplinarity in the Arts” at ZHdK Zurich (2014-2017), she delved into movement research with the question: How can we generate knowledge by exploring movement with our bodies and senses?
In Mexico, she became certified as a “Somatic Movement Educator” (ISMETA) in 2012 through the Body-Mind-Movement school. Since 2012, she has taught classes in Mexico, the U.S., Chile, and Brazil with Mark Taylor.
In 2013, she completed the Rolfing® Structural Integration training in the U.S. at the Guild for Structural Integration with Emmett Hutchins and Jeff Linn. She completed advanced training in 2018 in Prague with Neal Powers.
Since 2014, Lou has had her Rolfing® practice in Zurich, Switzerland. He is a member of the board of directors of IDA (Swiss Association for Rolfing® & Structural Integration).
He is currently taking osteopathy courses at the Barral Institute in Mexico and has one consultation per month in Equilibrio, Fuerteventura.
